Happy International Women's Day!

Celebrate those wonderful women in our lives by honoring their love, commitment and contribution to today’s world!

Every year on March 8th, the United Nations recognizes women across the world, and focuses a theme to assist global learning towards women’s issues. Their aim is to focus our attention to today’s women who continue to fight for human rights across the world, whether it’s their right to an education, or preventing violence, or even their right to live. We can’t live our lives in ignorance anymore, it’s time to warm our hearts to those beautiful women across the globe, who don’t belong to our culture, and suffer greatly for just being women.

This year, the theme for International Women’s Day is “A promise is a promise: Time for action to end violence against women”. The UN aims to educate others towards ongoing abuse that women suffer around the world. It is estimated that up to seven in ten women globally will be beaten, raped, abused, or mutilated in their lifetimes – and most of this violence takes place in intimate relationships. This year it’s time to keep the commitment to end that abuse.

In November 2012, UN Women launched “COMMIT,” a global initiative which calls on leaders worldwide to fulfill their promise and take a stand to end violence against women and girls. This year’s International Women’s Day is about honoring that promise made by this initiative. It is possible to end this pandemic through determined leadership for prevention and protection. There is a need to create provision of services for survivors, helping them get back on their feet, and raise awareness for an attitude change.
