Erin Mills is a beautifully planned community, on the west end of Mississauga, where great emphasis has been given to building neighborhoods that offer a comfortable and relaxed lifestyle to the residents. Prized for its remarkable landscaping and warm suburban feel, its home to anyone who seeks welcoming and nurturing surroundings. Erin Mills was established in the 1950s, when a wealthy entrepreneur, E.P. Taylor began buying farmland for future development by the Don Mills Development Corporation. In 1969 the group announced its plans to build a "New Town" - which today, forms the Erin Mills community. The name 'Erin Mills' was given by the developers, probably for its close proximity to Erindale, and for the many grist mills that were operating on the banks of the Credit River nearby. After being known for its thoughtful planning and layout, Erin Mills became part of the City of Mississauga in 1974.
